Comprehensive carbon assessment for Dalquharran Estate Holiday Lodges
Paul Hogarth
Carbon and climate-risk assessment for a proposed rural holiday lodge development
We completed a full NPF4 Policy 2 assessment for a new rural holiday lodge development, covering climate mitigation (2A) and climate adaptation (2B).
Our study uses RICS-aligned whole life carbon assessment, one click CLA, and our own place-based modelling to quantify embodied, operational and transport emissions – along with sequestration potential from 1.6ha of new woodland and 585 trees.
A parallel climate-risk assessment – heat, flooring, wind and humidity – defines SuDS, biodiversity and thermal comfort measures, and demonstrates policy compliance and long-term resilience.

Testimonial
"Balance provided a clear route through NPF4 policy 2a (lifetime emissions) and 2b (climate risk analysis), providing us with statements and design advice that helped conclude a successful planning application for our client and an assessment that was well received by the planning case officer."
